they are finished with any Satin or Cotton cord to put it simply.  You can use wire and add spacers and other glass beads that would be great, our Satin suggestion is if your in a hurry and you need a quick necklace to go to a party or BBQ.  You can make a matching bracelet and earrings,(tout sweet)very fast a few glass beads in the same colors and earring components a few jump rings and crimp beads and some stretchy cord for your bracelet and your done.
